Hot Water Is Cold

If your hot water is cold, this is generally due to a problem with the thermostat on your water heater. First, check the circuit breaker and ensure it is on. If it has tripped, turn the breaker on and check the water temperature to ensure this is not your problem. If the circuit breaker is on, you need to make sure the thermostat is working properly. You can refer to the owner's manual to learn how to do this for your water heater or contact a repair company.

Another thing that can cause cold water is having a blown fuse. If you have this, replacing the fuse will fix your problem. If you still have only cold water, the heating element inside the water heater may be bad and needs to be replaced. This should be done by a water heater repair company.

There could also be a problem with the heating element not working properly. In most cases replacing the heating element will take care of the problem.

Hot Water Is Hotter

If you turn on the hot water and it is much hotter than it normally, is check the thermostat. In most cases this is due to the setting on the thermostat is too high. If your water heater is new, this is common. If your water heater is not new, someone may have changed the setting without you knowing it.
